Hajj Nasr, the kafta, and Sandwich w Noss

Remember the Sandwich w Noss campaign? (here) The campaign went on to compare itself (mostly in a funny derogatory way to other places) and it was, indeed, well-done. Now it seems someone mentioned in one of the ads is giving thanks. Hajj Nasr who was tagged in one of the original ads as "the best kafta after Hajj" (Nasr, implicitly) is actually issuing an ad that goes "you are full of taste/manners people!" and on facebook the following sentence "he who sees us with one eye, we see him with two, you engulfed us in your honesty".

Now, the Sandwich w Noss campaign has been gone for a while, so I am not sure where they found the original ad, and better,  where they found one underneath it to buy - as I am assuming this is a one-off thing (you did not hear it from me but this could either be AI or edited). Still, better late than never, especially with a good one.

Ah Sandwich W Noss has a nice ad! "We stole the idea of the shaker and make it tastier" - cheeky one indeed. But it works superbly. Mostly because obviously, the wink they included. Now, I do hope that they will make it of a decent size because their sandwiches were a bit minuscule yet priced the way other places would be more generous in terms of content. But this aside as Picasso said "Good artists borrow, great artists steal" - so, apart from the Louvre, this one was a good theft.

File this under: are you even serious? Wow. Sandwich w Noss goes... viral? Silly? idiotic? nonesense-but-let's-prentend-we-are-funny-when-we-know-we-are-not? Honest, how can even this go online? And for what? A few clicks more and at what cost? Sorry I am being too - harsh. Sure, sure, I am ex-Sagesse Achrafieh student but that is NOT the point. The point is - why did Sandwich w Noss go this low? They are offering players, and the full logistic team, "sahtein" (Arabic for 2 healths) to "make it up for them" losing 4-1 in the final games in front of Riyadi (with the last one 92-77). Well, seriously, Sandwich w Noss has gone off the rails. And again, for what?

OK file this under... Meh. "Sandwich w Noss has a new menu to make a fuss in the land".

Well, this landed with a thud if you ask me. I am not even sure what is so sexy about this ad and why they think it is so cute or what not. Also, not a connoisseur in sandwiches but I do remember his being very small to be honest. I have been seeing a lot of forgettable ads, and yes, this is one of them sadly. 

But again, I always get back to the same idea - who comes up with this? Who approves this? And why do they think it is worth spending their money on it?

Al Abdalla nukes Zaatar w Zeit on its home turf

Remember the Sandwich w Noss vs Beit Al Mokhtar saga (where Sandwich w Noss acting very petty? here), well we have a new saga developing between Zaatar w Zeit and Al Abdalla. Right bang on top of the ZWZ branch, AlAbdalla announces that "the fanciest chicken in right across" (where AlAbdalla branch is facing ZWZ on the highway). Now seriously, I hope ZWZ comes up with a funny/witty answer other than complaining to Facebook as Sandwich w Noss did. But hey, at least some life on the advertising scene in Lebanon! Do note that Kababji previously took the same spot and advertised above Zaatar w Zeit, when I notified them they answered very smartly with their selling line "love, regardless" (here).

Where does one begin?

Over a canned laughter track "television w noss" has a new video for "sandwich w noss" which is an ad for its "starters" namely its hot chicken wings. The video is entitled "the sound of our crispiness gets to Cyprus" which has nothing to do with the images to begin with. So, the "joke" is that the chicken is so hot that the "director" discretely hands the "presenter" (doing a parody of another show) a bottle of water from under the table (yes, very funny - yawn)

Actually, the copy is meh, the delivery annoying, the concept is - deflating. The only thing pseudo funny is the scroller at the bottom of the TV screen "this sentence is superfluous, why are you still reading?".

Elections 2022: Sandwich w Noss makes fun of everyone.

And then finally someone cracks it out in the open! Sandwich w Noss, which basically sells foods, issues an ad about "lists that make sense" which doubles as "lists that have a flavor" - from the get go and considering Lebanese are forced to elect full lists (go figure!) Sandwich w Noss proposed food-based lists that actually laugh about those the political parties are proposing. "The fat duo?" that's code name for "the Chiite duo" (Amal and Hezbullah), "spicy men and women in a state" that's "citizen men and women in a state" but reworked, "fina bass ma badna" - oh please, did anyone not laugh about the Lebanese Forces campaign already? And on it goes basically mocking everyone and anyone. Well, if you can't change the system, why not laugh about it?

Sandwich w Noss bids Zomato goodbye!

Oh wow isn't this a nice gesture! Sandwich w Noss bids Zomato (the food delivering app which is leaving the Lebanese market amid the financial crisis) goodbye with a lovely ad. "Ra7 nechta2lak ya chrik" - we'll miss you buddy/partner - all this done in the way of a poster hung on the some anonymous wall in Beirut. Mind you Sandwich w Noss lost its Mar Mekhael branch in the August 2020 explosion, and like all other restaurants, has been deeply affected by the economic instability which is storming through Lebanon. Sandwich w Noss gets s-mitten by Bernie

You must know by now that Bernie Sanders owned the Biden inauguration "normcore" and we were all s-mitten! (see what I did here?). And his meme already has been inserted in all possible situations. So by their own admittance Sandwich W Noss decided to "ride the wave" and get him to get a Sandwich there in situ. The line also tries to riff on his name "Yo2Bernie el Berden" the word "yo2borne" (litterally "may he burry me" is slang for "how cute")... And yes, they inserted his name in it (to be honest not sure I am a total fan of it though). Still, feel the Bern people!!

Sanwdwich W Noss - a double ad that works

Sandwich W Noss (despite being petty in the past!) has a nice double ad on the highway. Actually it starts with the one on the bridge. "Taaaake! Your right"..... And what is there right after the bridge? Blimey! A Sandwich W Noss branch. "What are you waiting for - slow down". Well, it does work - first as a notifying sign and then an outright invite. Actually whereas the image above is a composite, they both can fit in one image from far enough. See below.
