Dear Puck, welcome to the stereotypical sexist club

I have written about this prior (here) - at the time it was through the lens of Vileda and Fairy. Plein Soleil played the same card as well (here). A sad sorry tale. Pity that a decade later, everything remains the same. Because yes, why would it change when women internalize the stereotype? Fairy, Vileda, Plein Soleil (and many other brands) walked so that Puck can run. But underneath it is the same, worrying, latent, mostly unrecognizable stereotype and sexism. A woman's place is in the kitchen. Hey, she can have all the career triumphs she wants as long as she is in the kitchen - cooking and knowing her place in the hierarchy. Truly, a very let down ad - especially that Puck falls under Arla, a Danish giant stemming from a country where gender equality is more advanced that most countries of the world.

Annahar gets itself an incomprehensible selling line

As I always say, advertising is becoming too smart for me. File this under: I seriously have no clue what this means. OK so Annahar newspaper has a selling line which am assuming is perhaps new as not seen it before. Annahar in Arabic means "the day". The line? Clear sight in the peak of the day. Now, correct me if I am mistaken - how would this position the newspaper or give it an edge over, you know, natural light? As far as I can "see" (sorry for the pun) there is none. What does the paper bring me then? No idea. How does this place the paper over and above any other media is mysterious to me. I have spoken prior about the use of the brand inside selling lines (here) with exceptional examples from Kiri cheese, or Fairy washing liquid. Well, suffice to say, this is not one of them.

Fairy and Pril duel it out - perhaps related to the festive season

Well, theoretically this is an odd time to launch a new liquid cleaner. I mean before the holidays. Then again, family feasts and gatherings imply a lot of grease and sticky things on plates and cooking utensils so maybe it is the right time after all to launch one such product. Interestingly, the two heaviest players - Fairy and Pril - are both at it. With Pril going for the huge ad on Dora and Fairy going for every other billboard in town, both with the same promise. Considering brand loyalty is now a non-issue my vote is that women will go to the most cost-effective at the supermarket. Lebanon has changed, the consumer has changed.
