A lot of you were either not born, or in diapers, or do not even remember, but Khoury Home, eons ago, started off with "Khoury Home, ma bi sakker wala yawm" (Khoury Home, doesn't close any day). Add very slapstick ads such as a man with his eyeglasses tilted on his face and a shocked look on his face with a line such as "look a the price!" (in English) and you get the drift. Well, that was then. Khoury home, has a new selling line - which I find both pertinent and very smart - "min ghayro?" (who else but him?) because considering the top of mind Khoury Home has for many people, the question does indeed ask itself. As soon as you think for any electronics, home appliance, this, that, one of the first names to come to mind is actually Khoury Home. So yes, "min ghayro?" does stand to reason.

Shopping month is back according to Khoury Home
Shopping month? Yes, Shopping month! Either you are too young to remember it or now senile and cannot remember it. But - here's a recap: Shopping month originated as a February festival in the UAE to get more tourists during the February lull, and immigrated back to Lebanon with the joke that merchants would put at 50% discount on an item but keep the same price (no seriously, someone peeled the "new" price to discover it was the same as the old one!) yet, old habits die hard - at least for Khoury Home which is doing its own February sale under the parasol of "shopping festival" - the boombox in itself is time machine enough to let you know which decade we are going back to (all right kind of 90s!).

Khoury Home nails its copy
Well, one has to give it out to Khoury Home - the copy is simply very good. First the admission "mich wa2to" - slang for "this is not the time" (you know with Lebanese being besieged with so many expenses and bills it is only normal for them to feel financially overwhelmed especially that most have lost their livelihoods and stashed money to the banks but also the official Black Friday which is after thanksgiving is way off - for info about Lebanese and Black Friday visit here) then the redeemer part "bas bi wa2to" which translated to "but it is right on time" (again with prices so low how much can you delay a new stove or fridge or a piece of electronics). Hats off indeed, one needs to know the market perfectly well to come up with this!

La Maison, make way for a visually beautiful ad
Sometimes you look at an ad, and it breathes sunshine, fare niente, and all that "le temps devant soi", it just translates lingering summer days, and that louche feeling of a calm gathering among family and friends. Actually, there is a second ad for "La Maison" (that would be the home decoration department of Khoury Home) which features a lot of models doing precisely that, but the beauty of this one? It suggests rather than shows. You can immediately fill it with loved ones, and long summer lunches. Or just some time alone without the fracas. "Make room for serenity" indeed.

Khoury home goes feather light
Khoury Home. Yes, been a while indeed. But Khoury Home is advertising its sale.
"Our prices are light as a feather" - the headline is kind of cute... But of course, it had to be reemphasized by... a feather used as a parachute. And... OK, are these a watermelon and an ice cream in the background? Not that they sell any... But I guess this is all part of the "summer vibe" they wish to project - interestingly, whereas some days the temperature is soaring, there are others where the sky is so overcast. So summer still did not come knocking on our door yet. But hey - items are on 50% off...

Khoury Home does Father's Day
Ah so this flew a little under the radar. Khoury Home does Father's Day... A little bit pocking fun as said father(s) - they could be rock stars? (or rather rock star wannabees), or sport fanatics (hmmm 80s leotard-clad anyone?), or photographers (well, the wedding cake collapsed), or astronauts (OK, not all astronauts apparently have giant leap for mankind"... But the ad is quite lighthearted, funny in its own dismissive way. And truth be told, quite real as it can get (I mean seriously, we all make small jokes on fathers). Watch the full ad here.

Blanchor aces Easter for its clients
Here are two of my favorite interpretations - Khoury Home and Exotica.
Because it is incredibly tricky to insert your brand in the bunny ears.
Beauty lounge Lily? Nail polish spill.
Kronfol restaurant? The lettuce on the taboule!
It is not easy to do simple. And Blanchor does it brilliantly.
Happy Easter everyone.
