Could this be related to the
Uber driver who killed British embassy worker in 2017? No idea but Uber is going out o a limb to stress the safety element - One such ad talks about the "instant check up on the idenity of the driver" and another says "safety features are available in the app". Again no idea what prompted this, but they seem to go really out to spread the message. So Uber is safe people. At least this is what the ads say.
