As explained earlier this year, the Army Day comes on backdrop of tumult - on the one hand the army fighting Islamists, on the other said Islamists not living long enough once in custody. So their own "in your glory I take respite" (a known song by Fairouz, our national diva) is only much needed. Well, whereas most of the time self-infatuation is present in the Lebanese Army ads (trust me, I used to come up with these ads!) this year it is much needed as the institution took heavy battering - in the field and outside of it.
