Zouk el Karar gets funky

So the municipal and mayoral elections in Lebanon are under way, this Sunday is the turn of Mount Lebanon and yes, all kinds of political parties are meddling left and right in this. Zouk el Karar which is actually a list in Zouk Mekayel just issued a funky one "smile you are in Zouk Mekayel" which becomes "Smile you are from Zouk Mekayel" so yes, why not? In terms of funkiness however little can beat the "kellna Jounieh" ad issued in 2010 when everyone and anyone opposed their list so they went with "everyone is against us, Virgin Mary is on our side" (technically, the statue is on the Daroun-Harissa disctrict not Jounieh, and even if the bottom of the cable cable is technically in Jounieh, its top remains somewhere else). But hey wit an cheekiness know no geography... (Side note, that list won!)

Municipalities, again, and again...

Remember Nahnoo? (here). Well, guess who is back? This ad is - actually more explicit than the previous one (even if the creative angle leaves me perplexed). OK this one goes "municipalities are not made-to-measure they should fit the whole country" (I guess they are trying to mean that municipalities are not made to suit specific political entities but rather the whole population). Now, at least this time around they included a very clear "participate in the municipal elections, become candidates and vote". As I said, this ad is a bit more "obvious" even if creatively I am still a tad lost.

Nahnoo - goes for municipalities (again)

Well Nahnoo is going for the municipalities again (first recorded round on the blog is here). And so here we are again this time they go for "powers proportionate to the burden". All right, it might just be me, but I did not get this one. Does it mean that municipalities are doing too much without having the appropriate powers by law, or that they should have more powers to do more, or - in reverse - they have too much power and doing little with them? Again, it could be me, but I am not sure what they are invoking in the ad. Municipalities for sure, but the rest seems vague to me.

DGCS - the other new campaign

As I said, there were so few new campaigns hitting the streets last February, that anything actually stood out.... In this case, meet the DGCS campaign to name adjustments in case one wished to be part of the municipal and mayoral elections in Lebanon. The deadline was March 1rst. Trust be told, the Lebanese population, between the many financial woes, the freefall of the currency, the day to day struggles, might  not have the adjustment of their info or names as top priority, but hey, the DGCS has to issue them an invite to do it anyhow. And yes, the design is easy on the eyes.
