Al Wadi Al Akhdar (literally: the green valley) - a leading brand of frozen vegetables and jams - has a new TVC. Before the advertising went on to become an expected "slice of life" of family lunches in lovely rustic Beirut homes, the starting sequence marked a stroke of genius: It went back to the famous
shot of the ad which heavily aired way back then (the 80s!) with a girl asking "wayn Al Wadi Al Akhadar?" (where is the green valley?) only to be answered - in every house. To a new generation unaware of the old advertising, this is a cute shot with nostalgic resonance (very popular feeling among the Millennials), to the generations that lived it and heard it repeatedly on the television this is a great trip in time which makes the ad so immediately recognizable. You can watch the ad
here. Hats off though!
