Beirut Mayhem-ek by Tarek Chemaly (a republishing)

Artwork by Tarek Chemaly

For those of you who missed it the first time around, I will be sharing with you "Beirut mayhem-mek" in the span of next week (all seven parts of it) - which is a compilation of some of my writings about this mad city between 2006 and 2007. Since Beirut is stuck on a "loop" mode, it ends up repeating itself under different disguises, which is why the writing is still very contemporary. As explained in the graphic above, "mayhem-mek" is also Arabic for "don't you worry"... An expression used to dismiss anything (usually significant) in Lebanon. To be very honest, these vignettes were already published in "Getting the News from Poems" my poetic anthology from 2009, but they work better on this more accessible format.
