Beirut and the longing for the
times gone by. Every generation takes refuge in a pink past which was much more
somber for those who lived it, and every new set of people take refuge in
erroneous reminiscences of the past, thinking that it was perfect. Yet not
understanding that it was their parents’ era is what led to what they currently
live. Jeremiah did say: “The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge.”
