The Holiday Inn Beirut, that war relic, still standing abandoned today although we periodically hear of plans for it. Above is an illustration by Harry Borgman for the plush grand lobby of the hotel, where guests would have cocktails and compare notes on a dolce vita life in Beirut - but, if it was so real and lasting how come we ended up with the image of the same lobby (sadly no credits available), of the Peugeot 404 getting stuck in the lobby of the same hotel (sans cocktail) most likely during or after the hotel wars episode in Beirut. Sometimes things would be too funny had they not been real!
